Molten to Release "SLAM DUNK x Molten Basketball"
Molten Corporation based in Hiroshima, Japan, a manufacturer of competition quality sports balls and equipment, is set to release the "SLAM DUNK x Molten Basketball" at sports equipment shops across China and on online shopping websites, beginning on Tuesday, July 18.

Molten has developed and produced this special basketball in collaboration with the popular Japanese manga series "SLAM DUNK" featuring high school basketball.

The "SLAM DUNK x Molten Basketball" is a specially designed ball depicting a scene in which SLAM DUNK protagonist Hanamichi Sakuragi, a star player with Shohoku High School, makes a dash in a game against Sannoh High School at the story's climax.

About manga series "SLAM DUNK"
"SLAM DUNK" is a popular Japanese manga series featuring high school basketball that was published in 276 installments on "Weekly Shonen Jump" comic magazine from 1990 to 1996 in Japan. The work published in book form has sold a total of over 120 million copies in Japan.

The biennial global event will be hosted by Germany and run from December 1 to 17, 2017. The official game ball, the X5000 Germany 2017 Edition, as well as replica models will be available for purchase in select markets from the end of June of 2017.

Molten's renowned X5000 elite handball series is the official ball of the International Handball Federation (IHF) and is used in all IHF-sanctioned international competitions. The new X5000 Germany 2017 Edition handball features a custom design that will be exclusive to the 2017 championship event. Molten Corporation, a manufacturer of quality competition sports balls and equipment, will release the Molten Libertria 5000 3x3, a FIBA Approved 3x3 game ball, in April 2016.

The 3x3 basketball scene has seen promising growth over the past few years. This exciting game has three players per team and utilizes a half-court playing space. Until recently, Size 6 game balls were used in all competitions. Now, Molten has developed a 3x3 game ball to meet new regulations set by FIBA (International Basketball Federation) in 2015.

The Molten Libertria 5000 3x3 Basketball features remarkable grip and superior durability; with its wear-resistant covering, the Libertria 5000 3x3 is able to withstand the wear and tear of intense play on harsh outdoor courts without sacrificing grip and maneuverability. The 12-panel design is based on the Molten GL7X Basketball, the official indoor game ball of FIBA. The new FIBA 3x3 standards require a different color scheme, size, and weight from indoor basketball. The maneuverability of a size 6 basketball has been combined with the weight of a size 7 basketball; the integration of the smaller size and increased weight allows for dynamic play and reduced wind interference when playing outdoors. To increase visibility, the ball features yellow and blue panels with orange seams.
